Brevard County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Major Vic DeSantis said the crime took place at about 1:20 p.m. at the hotel, located at 4225 West King Street in Cocoa.

“The suspect approached the bartender and demanded all of the money in the register,” DeSantis said. “When the bartender hesitated, the suspect retrieved a silver semi-automatic handgun from his waist and pointed it toward the bartender.”

DeSantis said the victim then provided the suspect with money from the register.

“The suspect demanded that victim lay on the ground behind the bar while he fled the business,” he said.

How the suspect arrived at the hotel or where he fled following the robbery are unknown.

The bartender was unharmed during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, about 5-feet-7 with a medium build, brown hair, and brown eyes.

He was wearing blue jeans, a black short-sleeve button-down shirt and a plain red baseball hat.

The suspect was also described as having two tear drop tattoos under his right eye.
