BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Investigators from the Melbourne Police Department are combing through evidence from the scene of a deadly apartment shooting Friday that killed two and left one person seriously injured.

Melbourne Police spokesman Sgt. Sheridan Shelley said officers responded to reports of gunfire with possible victims at 4:55 p.m. Friday at the League Apartments at 1635 League Avenue.

Shelley said that upon arrival, officers located a woman in the parking lot that had been shot.

Officers were then directed to Apartment #12 of the complex where they located a deceased man and a deceased woman. Both of them had sustained gunshot wounds.

A handgun was discovered inside the apartment.

The injured woman was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive, Shelley said.

Investigators received initial information that the deceased mane and woman may have been involved in a relationship with one another and they are looking into the possibility that this incident is a murder/suicide.

The names of the persons involved are not being released pending notification of family.

Melbourne police detectives are currently investigating this incident and further information may become available at a later time.

Anyone with information is asked to call CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477) or the Melbourne Police Department’s Crime Tip Line at 321-409-2259.
