BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Brevard Physicians Network (BPN) and Medical Practitioners for Affordable Care (MPAC) will hold a Grand Opening event for their new office location at One Senior Place on Friday, Oct. 19 from noon to 4 p.m.

The new office is at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road in Viera, and will feature a wealth of information about senior insurance options, preventive health care and lots of free giveaways and refreshments.

Led By Dr. Gopal Gadodia and Brenda Radke, Brevard-Based MPAC Is one of just 154 Accountable Care Organizations in America.

The grand opening will take place in conjunction with the Senior Insurance Event.

In the ongoing quest to improve healthcare quality and cost effectiveness for the senior population and to encourage local seniors to be more involved in their health outcomes, BPN and MPAC are taking the message directly to seniors with the help of the fantastic venue at One Senior Place.

BPN is the largest Independent Physician Association in Brevard County with about 270 physician members who care for over 70,000 patients in our community.

MPAC is the first Medicare approved Accountable Care Organization (ACO) in Brevard County – and one of only 154 in the entire United States.

Working To Improve Quality and Efficiency

More than 140 physicians participate in MPAC and are working to improve the quality and efficiency of care for Medicare beneficiaries while creating medical cost savings that will help to improve the sustainability of the Medicare program.

MPAC, based in Melbourne and comprised of 145 participating local physicians, is the only Brevard County and one of 10 Florida medical groups that have been officially designated by CMS as an ACO, which offers medical groups, hospitals and federally qualified health centers financial incentives for quality improvement and cost control.

MPAC CEO Brenda Radke

“We have engaged a very high quality, well motivated group of physicians who, through the Shared Savings Program, will work with CMS to provide Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries with high quality patient-centered service and care, while reducing the growth in Medicare expenditures through enhanced care coordination,” said Brenda Radke, MPAC Chief Operating Officer.

“We are delighted to be opening our new BPN – MPAC office at One Senior Place. This will allow for an even greater outreach for MPAC in a great location like One Senior Place.”

Improved Patient-Centered Service And Care Combined With Cost Efficiencies

The total number of Florida physicians enrolled in CMS approved ACOs now numbers well over 1,000, which means that the ACO style of medical practice could now touch hundreds of thousands of Medicare patients in the state. The only other designated ACO in Central Florida other than MPAC is in the Orlando area.

“The Medicare ACO program opened for business in January, and already, more than 2.4 million beneficiaries are receiving care from providers participating in these important initiatives,” acting CMS Administrator Marilyn Tavenner said in a statement.

“We are very pleased with the overall numbers,” said Jonathan Blum, the principal deputy administrator and director of the Center for Medicare, on a conference call with reporters.
