FHSAA Boys Class 2A Golf Finals

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Melbourne High School freshman Chase Cutshall qualified for the 2012 FHSAA state finals and had an impressive outing considering he was a nervous freshman playing in tough weather conditions.

Coach Darrell Buchanan may have had a very nervous freshman to work with, but Cutshall remained focused.

“The key was getting the butterflies out,” said Buchanan.   “Chase got off to a rough start, but he started to hit greens and his putting kept him in it.”

According to Chase’s dad, Jeff Cutshall,  “He settled in to a tough course on a cold windy day but, Chase never could get it going, like we have seen him do, finishing 3 over for a 75.”

Cutshall won the Cape Coast Conference, carding a 69 at Duran Golf Club just a couple of weeks prior tot he state finals.  He did manage his game well enough to finish just 6-strokes off the lead and 15th overall.

Nonetheless, it was a good overall freshman year for Chase Cutshall.  He won the Cape Coast Conference Championship and the Region 6 2A Championship and finished T15 in the FHSAA State finals.  We look forward to watching this young man play over the next three years.
