Walking On Air: Palm Bay Hosts Skyhoundz Event

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Get ready. The largest disc-dog competition series in the world is coming to Palm Bay this coming weekend.

A local championship for the 2012 Hyperflite Skyhoundz Canine Disc Championships will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at Palm Bay Regional Park.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. in the park at 1951 Malabar Road NW in Palm Bay.

There is no entry fee for competitors and admission is free for spectators. Novice and veteran competitors are encouraged to compete.

Competitors will receive a free official Hyperfilte K-10 Competition Standard flying disc, while supplies last, and the top three teams will receive awards.

Contestants and their canine teammates will earn points for basic throws and catches, with bonus points for mid-air catches in the Distance/Accuracy event.

Mixed breeds as well as purebred dogs are welcome. Many of the canines expected to compete were rescued from local animal shelters or rescue groups.
