“We are thrilled with the turnout and everyone has had a really good time,” said Joane Dowd, events coordinator for the Viera Company who co-sponsored the event along with the Viera Community Center and Space Coast Daily.com.

“A big thank you goes to Kristin Swenson with the Viera Community Center staff and to Space Coast Daily for their help and support to organize this event for the community. They are great to work with. Walmart was also very generous in supplying donations of candy and prizes for the participants.”

The Viera Company also donated candy and over $3,000 in prizes.

CRAFT FAIR

The event began at 10 a.m. with a crafts fair inside the spacious community center and moved outside at 11am for the Easter Egg Hunt, inflatable games, face painting and more.

Children were divided into five age groups for the egg hunt and each happy participant got to pick up five eggs and redeem for candy. Some lucky hunters received valuable prizes with specially marked eggs. There was even a special category for parents and grandparents to hunt for eggs and win valuable  prizes.

“This is awesome,” aid Kritsin Smith of Viera. “I just won a $50 gift card from Walmart. What a great day this is!”

Delicious foods were on offer from food trucks serving Mexican, Brazilian and American dishes. A visit from the Easter Bunny, a crafts fair and thousands of delicious Easter-themed items and cupcakes made by local bakers made the event a day to remember.

The Cupcake Contest, sponsored by DestinationBrevard.com, was a huge hit with the attendees. “These cup cakes are absolutely delicious and there are so many to choose from,” said Amber Blake of Viera.

The highlight of the event was the annual Easter Egg Hunt in which children and parents dashed to find over 10,000 brightly colored eggs strewn across the grounds of the community center.
