Bicyclist Killed In Accident With Melbourne Police Car

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Richard Hill of Indian Harbour Beach, 53, was killed last night after being struck by a Melbourne police car at 9:40 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Linthicum was driving east on Eau Gallie Blvd. (SR 518) in the right lane, and Hill was crossing the road near the intersection of Blue Bird Blvd. and SR 518 on his bicycle. Florida Highway Patrol investigators determined that Hill moved into the direct path of the police car as the front of the car hit the bicycle.

Hill was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
