Brevard Public Schools Receives Third Consecutive ‘A’ Rating, 17 Schools Increase Letter Grades
79% of BPS schools earned an A or B rating this year

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools (BPS) proudly celebrates earning an “A” rating from the State of Florida for the third consecutive year, marked by sweeping letter grade improvements across the district.
Key District Achievements:
• School Improvements: 13 schools increased one full letter grade this year. Four schools jumped two full letter grades — from a C to an A.
• Grade Distribution: The number of schools earning an A rating grew from 37 to 41, and schools earning a B rating grew from 20 to 26, while schools rated C dropped from 26 to 16.
• High-Performing Schools: 79% of BPS schools earned an A or B rating this year.
Academic Highlights for 2025-26:
• English Language Arts (ELA): 3-point increase in district-wide ELA achievement, including a 6-point increase in 3rd grade ELA proficiency.
• Mathematics: 3-point increase in district-wide Math achievement.
• Science: 4-point increase in district-wide Science achievement, including 4-point gains in both 5th grade and 8th grade Science.
• Biology 1: 4-point increase in achievement.
• Social Studies: 4-point increase in achievement.
• Middle School Acceleration: 77% achievement — the highest rate on record.
Historic Leaps: Four Schools Jump Two Full Letter Grades
Among this year’s results, one achievement stands out above the rest: four BPS schools each climbed two full letter grades in a single year, a rare and remarkable leap that reflects extraordinary work by students, teachers, and school leaders alike.
• Croton Elementary School soared from a C to an A, one of the most dramatic turnarounds in the district this year.
• Port Malabar Elementary School rose from a C to an A, a testament to the school’s sharpened focus on student achievement.
• Roy Allen Elementary School jumped from a C to an A, marking one of the strongest single-year gains in school history.
• Mims Elementary School climbed from a C to an A, capping off a year of significant academic momentum.
“We have a high performing school district, and these results illustrate that. This is the third year of steady growth and improvement,” said Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell. “We need to acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of our students and our classroom teachers. Their hard work led to these results.”
“Three consecutive ‘A’ ratings don’t happen by accident — they reflect the daily commitment of our teachers, principals, and staff to student success,” said School Board Chair Matt Susin. “This year’s results, especially the schools that leapt two full letter grades, show what’s possible when high expectations are matched with real investment in our classrooms. I’m proud of what our students and educators have accomplished, and I’m confident this momentum will carry into the year ahead.”
13 Schools Earn Higher Letter Grades:
• Atlantis Elementary School: Improved from a B to an A rating.
• Audubon Elementary School: Improved from a B to an A rating.
• Discovery Elementary School: Improved from a C to a B rating.
• Endeavour Elementary School: Improved from a D to a C rating.
• Golfview Elementary Magnet School: Improved from a D to a C rating.
• Harbor City Elementary School: Improved from a C to a B rating.
• James Madison Middle School: Improved from a C to a B rating.
• Jupiter Elementary School: Improved from a C to a B rating.
• Lyndon B. Johnson Middle School: Improved from a C to a B rating.
• Meadowlane Intermediate Elementary School: Improved from a B to an A rating.
• Mila Elementary School: Improved from a C to a B rating.
• Sabal Elementary School: Improved from a C to a B rating.
• Saturn Elementary School: Improved from a C to a B rating.
3 Year Highlights from 2023-24 to 2025-26
• 42 point increase in overall district grade, earning the third consecutive District Grade of A in the 2025-26 school year.
• A 15% increase in percent of schools earning a school grade of A or B (from 64% in the 2023-24 school year to 79% in the 2025-26 school year.
• 5% increase in 3rd Grade English Language Arts
• 5% increase in English Language Arts Achievement
• 5% increase in Mathematics Achievement
• 8% increase in Science Achievement
• 6% increase in Social Studies Achievement
• 7% increase in Middle School Acceleration
• 3% increase in Graduation Rate
• 1% increase in College and Career Acceleration
These results reflect BPS’s continued investment in student achievement and educator support.
The district remains focused on building on this momentum in the 2026-27 school year.
