BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Southern Photo is celebrating their golden anniversary — 50 years of camera service, photography education, all-size printing and custom framing.
In today’s dark retail environment, one local business is shining. Southern Photo will hold a 50th Anniversary Celebration 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 28 at their store, located on 125 E. NASA Boulevard in Melbourne.
Southern Photo is the largest full-service photography store in Brevard County, well-known for its exemplary customer service, and notable for thriving through the photo retailing industry’s difficult transition from film to digital.
“The store successfully competes with online retailers by differentiating itself by offering strong service and a focus on creating value at the local level, where it matters the most,” said Southern Photo General Manager Mike Northrup.
“With a vast selection of cameras and camera accessories, a staff full of experienced professional photographers, and an eye for new and exciting ways to preserve and present your memories, Southern Photo has shown that it has what it takes to stand the test of time and technology.”
As a gesture for all their friends and fans who have supported them throughout the past five decades, Southern Photo is throwing a huge, all-day-long party for the community: serving free food, displaying antique cameras, giving away branded memorabilia, raffling off a camera, and discounting many favorites to under $20.
Also on-site will be a 1963 Chevrolet Impala for great photo opportunities.
Southern Photo’s canine mascot, Milk Dud, is an ever-present reminder of the store’s personal touch, and will be on the job greeting faithful patrons, along with his owner, Lisa Fournier, president of Southern Photo, who has owned and operated the store since 1990.
