Suspect Kidnaps Woman, Kills Himself On I-95 in Mims

BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA — A kidnapping suspect from Lakeland killed himself on I-95 after a chase that inolved the suspect shooting at cops and ultimately killing himself near mile marker 224 near SR 46.
South Daytona Police Department Chief Ronald Wright told News 13 that police officers noticed a suspicious vehicle around 3 a.m. and followed it on to I-95 South. According to Wright, the suspect fired at police officers as they pursued him on I-95.
Officers learned of a bulletin from Lakeland regarding a woman’s kidnapping by her ex fiance. According to officers, the suspect dialed 9-11 where he made threats to kill the woman if the police didn’t stop following her.
According to investigators, the man stopped at a rest area where the woman was released and he killed himself.
