Builder’s annual “Adopt-A-Family” program assists struggling family with monthly expenses, holiday decorations, holiday “wish list” items, and holiday meals

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – As part of LifeStyle Homes’ annual “Adopt-A-Family” program, the company raised over $3,000 to help the Santos family of Melbourne through the holiday season.

The LifeStyle team was introduced to Denise Santos through Marta Fiol at the Cancer Care Centers Foundation (CCCF) in November.

Santos, a single mother, was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2013 and underwent a double mastectomy shortly after.

“After getting to know Ms. Santos personally, it was apparent how desperately she needed a hand up,” says Karen Hufford, marketing director of LifeStyle Homes.

As she endured regular chemotherapy treatments throughout the year, she struggled to pay monthly living expenses and provide for her two teenage children. Her run-down car had multiple problems, making it difficult for her to get to and from medical appointments.

“After getting to know Ms. Santos personally, it was apparent how desperately she needed a hand up,” says Karen Hufford, marketing director of LifeStyle Homes.

“It became crucial for us at LifeStyle to not only fulfill her family’s Christmas wish lists, but to make a real difference in their lives as they start a new year.”

LifeStyle Homes assumed the Santos family’s living expenses for the month of December.

OUTPOURING OF KINDNESS

Many of the company’s employees and subcontractors – including Dutton Drywall; Southern Colors, Inc.; M&M Tile and Carpet Co.; Oceanside Cabinets, LLC; CNS Drywall; and 84 Lumber – all chipped in generous funds. Additionally, specific wish-list items – including a laptop computer and full-sized bed and writing desk – were donated by Outsource Orlando, LLC and Kay Green Design, Inc., respectively.

With the outpouring of kindness, LifeStyle Homes was able to help the Santos family afford holiday decorations, gifts, and meals, as well as offer additional funds to help fix her car.

“Giving back to our community – a community that has given so much to us – is just part of the LifeStyle culture,” says Jordan Luhn, CEO of LifeStyle Homes.

“We are blessed beyond belief, and our ‘Adopt-A-Family’ program is one way we pay it forward.”
