Since 1955, NORAD has tracked Santa across the globe. The tradition started from a mistake in a print advertisement. Sears published an ad which urged kids they could call Santa, but they accidentally listed NORAD’s number. NORAD played along and gave coordinates to kids who called in hopes of speaking to Saint Nick.

FUN FACTS ABOUT NORAD SANTA TRACKING

Microsoft is among 55 partners with NORAD’s Santa tracking process.

1,200 volunteers took over 114,000 phone calls from kids who were curious about Santa’s latest coordinates.
