Rotary Club Supports Space Coast Cancer Center

Merritt Island rotary club raises more than $7,000

ABOVE VIDEO: Providing cancer care since 1983, Space Coast Cancer Center is one of the premier Hematology/Oncology practices in Florida, consisting of the Titusville Cancer Center, Merritt Island Cancer Center and Viera Cancer Center in Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Last December, representatives from the Merritt Island Rotary Club presented Dr. Richard Levine and  Space Coast Cancer Foundation with a check from “Puttin on the Pink.”

From this event The Merritt Island Rotary Club was able to raise over $7000 and benefitted 2 localcharities Space Coast Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was established in May 2006. (Image for SpaceCoastDaily.com)

The event was a dining experience where attendees had the pleasure of experiencing a five course menu, paired with wine. The fare was accentuated with quail, seared tuna, crème brulee’ and was presented by local chef, John Bibby.

There were also auction items and live art created by local and renowned artist Derek Gores.

Due to the overwhelming success of this event, The Merritt Island Rotary plans to host this event again in October 2014.

The mission is to assist local cancer patients and their caregivers in our community with financial and emotional demands that are associated with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

From this event the Merritt Island Rotary Club was able to raise over $7,000 and benefitted two local charities Space Coast Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was established in May 2006.

The mission is to assist local cancer patients and their caregivers in our community with financial and emotional demands that are associated with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

The foundation provides direct financial assistance to help pay for pain medication, anti-nausea medication and utilities. It also provides transportation for cancer patients to treatment.
