Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Task Force Serves Search Warrant On Ice Cream Depot

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Task Force served a search warrant earlier today at the Ice Cream Depot, owned by District 4 Brevard County Commission candidate Lisa McDermott.

McDermott co-owns the business located at 1220 South Wickham Road in West Melbourne with her husband, James.
According to Major Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation has been ongoing for several months and is in reference to an alleged organized theft ring.
Evidence lead investigators to believe that thieves would target health and dental hygiene products, where the stolen merchandise would be delivered to the business and then sold on internet auction sites such as eBay.
The investigation has determined that over $100,000 dollars in stolen merchandise has been brought to, and sold through the business.

According to Goodyear there were no arrests today, but evidence was confiscated including computers and suspected stolen merchandise. The investigation is continuing with charges anticipated after the evidence is reviewed with the State Attorney’s Office.
McDermott has not replied to texts and e-mails requesting a comment.
Anyone with any information in reference to this investigation is asked to please call Agent Rob Fisher with the Economic Crimes Task Force at 321-633-8410 or CRIMELINE at 321-423-TIPS (8477).
