Cocoa Police Make Arrest In Pregnant Woman Kidnapping

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Lance Deloreon Jenkins, 26, was arrested on Thursday night and charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and aggravated battery (domestic).

According to the Cocoa Police Department, alleged victim Jamie Lee Powell-Kielczewski appeared at the police department on Thursday and gave a statement saying that she was fine and not in danger. However, according to the Cocoa Police Department, Powell-Kielczewski is telling family, friends, and co-worker a different story.

Based on the victim’s 911 call, the store’s video, the store clerk’s statement, and three other witness statements, police investigators feel the arrest and charges are appropriate, according to the Cocoa Police Department.

Jenkins should be at first appearances today.

UPDATE FROM COCOA POLICE: July 17, 2014, 4:40 p.m.

According to Cocoa Police Department’s public information officer Barbara Matthews, the alleged victim, Jamie Lee Powell-Kielczewski came into the Cocoa Police Department today to speak with investigators.

This was accomplished after numerous calls to her family members encouraging her to do so.  Although there were physical signs of abuse present, Powell-Kielczewski told police she was not a victim and refused to cooperate any further with the investigation.

Cocoa Police thank everyone who worked so diligently to help authorities  The witnesses to the abuse did an amazing job contacting police with information.

Pregnant Woman Abducted From Cocoa Gas Station

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa police investigators are asking for assistance in locating Jamie Lee Powell-Kielczewski, who police believe may have been kidnapped yesterday evening.

Witnesses told police that at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, Powell-Kielczewski walked into the Shell station on SR 524 to pay for gas.

According to the Cocoa police, Powell-Kielczewski told the clerk that she didn’t want to be with the people she was with any longer. She attempted to call 911 from the business phone but spoke very softly and police were not able to get a lot of information from her.

She then walked into the restroom and was attempting to call police again and, according to witnesses, one of the male subjects entered the store, walked to the restroom, kicked in the door and took Powell-Kielczewski out to the car against her will.

Police spent most of the night trying to positively identify Powell-Kielzcewski.

Powell-Kielczewski is 22 years old and, according to family is 4 1/2 months pregnant. She may be in the company of an unknown black male and white male. They were last seen driving a blue 4-door Pontiac G5 or G6, with a partial Florida tag of “395.”

According to the Cocoa police, based on statements made to the family by Powell-Kielczewski in the past, they believe her life may be in danger, and at this time Lance Jenkins is a person of interest.
