Merritt Island Girls Take ‘Scorps On Links

PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, FLORIDA – The Merritt Island High School Lady Mustangs golf team (1-0) – defending District 2A champions – teed off their season with a win against the Satellite Beach Lady Scorpions 206 – 253 at Manatee Cove Golf Course.

Merritt-island-high-school-180Mustang Senior Sabella Goodwin led all players with a front-nine 43. Senior Gracie Dunn – the 2012 Cape Coast Conference winner – carded a 46.

The Mustangs also featured Senior Tori Scabarozi with a 53 and Sophomore Hannah Harper with a 64.

The Scorpions Uma Hershberger led their scoring with a 57, followed by Emily Karlovitch (59), Amber Faubel (67), and Michaela Foley (70).

The Mustangs play the Titusville Terriers in a district match on Thursday at the Savannahs Golf Club on Merritt Island.
