BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s men’s basketball team scored its biggest victory of the young season on Friday upsetting nationally seventh-ranked Chipola College 89-83 in Niceville.
Eastern Florida improved to 4-0 with the victory over the state’s top-ranked team and gave head coach Jeremy Shulman his 93rd victory with the Titans.
“I’m really proud of my guys tonight,” Shulman said. “They really battled. We were in a hostile environment against a great team and our guys really came through. It was a real team effort.
“Now we turn our attention to a very talented and nationally number 14th-ranked Northwest Florida team that we play on their home court.”
Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. Central time on Saturday.
Eastern Florida led Chipola by 15 points with two minutes to go before the Indians fought their way back into the game.
But the lead was too much to overcome.
Sophomore Demetrius McReynolds led EFSC with 21 points. Freshman Terrell Miller recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds as EFSC came back from a nine-point halftime deficit.
“This was a big-time win,” Shulman added.
The loss dropped Chipola to 1-2.
