Two Honored As Deputies of the Month For January
By Wayne Ivey, Brevard County Sheriff // March 4, 2015
Deputies Ryan Futch, Mickael Holt

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – On December 24, 2014, while on duty in the Maximum Security Unit, Corrections Deputy Mickael Holt was approached by an inmate due to the positive rapport he develops with the various inmates he supervises.
The inmate turned over a nail to Corrections Deputy Holt that was approximately 3 inches long.
Corrections Deputy Holt immediately notified Corporal Futch and placed all the inmates in lockdown as they began a thorough search of the Housing Pod for contraband.
During the course of the search, Corrections Deputy Holt and Corporal Futch located a shower plate that had been loosened, which left exposed metal as well as provided a possible means for an attempted escape.
As a result of the search, facilities was immediately notified and the plate was repaired while the inmates were still held in lockdown.
Corporal Futch and Corrections Deputy Holt did an excellent job at discovering the potential contraband, a potential security breach, and also at employing proper procedures to make sure that the entire area was secure.
Please join me in congratulating them on being selected as Corrections Deputies of the Month and in thanking them for all they do to help protect our community.
