BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE FLORIDA – On Saturday, the Peach Belt Conference announced its postseason awards at the track & field championships closing ceremony, with Florida Tech’s Rachel Tobin and Daniel Schultz receiving two of the highest all-conference honors.

Tobin, a Palm Bay, Florida native, was recognized as the PBC Freshman Track Athlete of the Year after having one of the best seasons in Florida Tech’s five-year history.

In just her first season competing at the collegiate level, Tobin has set two program records in both the 100 meter dash (11.85) and the 200 meter dash (23.90).

In addition, her times in the 100 and 200 events provisionally qualify her for the NCAA Championships.

At the PBC Championships this past week, Tobin finished in second place in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash finals.

Tobin also teamed up with JoeMarie Reid, Maia Carter and Alexis Santiago to form Florida Tech’s record-breaking relay team.

The squad holds the program record in both the 4×100 meter (47.81) and 4×400 meter (4:03.40) relays.

Schultz, an Orlando, Florida native, received the Elite 15 Award at Saturday’s closing ceremony.

The Elite 15 Award Presented by GradesFirst recognizes the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the final site of competition at each of PBC’s 15 Championships.
