Florida Tech Swim Teams Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – On Tuesday, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America released its Scholar All-America Teams for the 2015 spring semester.

Keeping with its prestigious academic tradition, both of Florida Tech’s men’s and women’s teams garnered the honor.

In fact, all 13 Sunshine State Conference member teams that sponsor swimming earned the designation. In total, 406 men’s and women’s teams across NCAA Divisions I, II and III were named Scholar All-America.

The women’s team ranks seventh overall and third in the SSC with a 3.55 GPA, behind only Lynn and Saint Leo. The Panther men sit in fifth in the SSC with a 3.10 GPA.

The announcement marks the second consecutive semester and seventh out of eight that the FIT women’s team has earned the accolade.

The Panther women have been honored every semester of the program’s four-year history. The FIT men are bestowed with Scholar All-America honors for the first time since the spring semester of the inaugural 2011-12 season.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA, the oldest organization of college coaches in America, is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.
