Florida Highway Patrol is investigating Friday night collision on Palm Bay Road

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police announced that an adult male bicyclist was seriously injured Friday night in a crash involving an on-duty Palm Bay police officer.
The crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. Sept. 25 on Palm Bay Road near Arlington Lane. The officer was not injured.
Palm Bay police said preliminary information suggests the bicyclist was riding against traffic and swerved into the road in front of the patrol vehicle.
Police said a witness corroborated that account.
The circumstances remain under investigation.
The department requested that the Florida Highway Patrol respond and investigate the crash.
The bicyclist’s identity and current condition were not released.
