Warrant For Arrest of Homicide Suspect Issued In Cocoa Murder Case

Shawn J. Jones ARRESTED IN MIAMI

A suspect in the James Edward Brundige murder case was arrested in Miami on Burglary charges on Saturday, according to Lt. Eric Austin of the Cocoa Police Department. A warrant for the arrest of Shawn J. Jones, 26, was issued on Tuesday for the alleged first degree murder of Brundige. The murder occurred on May 27 on N. Fiske Boulevard. (See updates below)

A suspect in the James Edward Brundige murder case was arrested in Miami on Burglary charges on Saturday, according to Lt. Eric Austin of the Cocoa Police Department.

A warrant for the arrest of Shawn J. Jones, 26, was issued on Tuesday for the alleged first degree murder of Brundige. The murder occurred on May 27 on N. Fiske Boulevard. (See updates below)

According to Lt. Austin, there are currently no other suspects in the case.

Jones’ transfer from Miami to Brevard County for first appearance is pending his charges in Miami. The case is being forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office for review and consideration for a grand jury.

Cocoa Police Identify Dead Shooting Victim, Locate Person of Interest

Cocoa police are trying to locate this woman who is a person of interest in connection with the James Brundige case. Investigators know the pictured female was with victim  James Brundige at approximately 3 a.m. at the 7-11 on Dixon Boulevard in Cocoa. If you know this female, or know where she can be located, please call the Cocoa Police Department at 321-637-6333 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-tips (8477). Investigators need to speak with her. Cocoa police have identified James Edward Brundige, 62, of 3823 Kennedy Circle in Cocoa as the victim who died this morning from apparent gunshot wounds in the 1000 block of N. Fiske Boulevard.

Cocoa police are trying to locate the woman pictured above, who is a person of interest in connection with the case, according to police.

According to the Cocoa police, investigators know the pictured female was with victim at approximately 3 a.m. at the 7-11 on Dixon Boulevard in Cocoa.

Investigators are currently interviewing possible witnesses.

One Man Dead, Cocoa Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting

The Cocoa Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead about 4 a.m. on Wednesday in the area of the 1000 block of North Fiske Boulevard.
The Cocoa Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead about 4 a.m. on Wednesday in the area of the 1000 block of North Fiske Boulevard.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The Cocoa Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead about 4 a.m. on Wednesday in the area of the 1000 block of North Fiske Boulevard.

Cocoa police received calls of shots fired, and when officers responded to the scene, they located a car that had struck a fence, but no one was in the car.

According to Barbara Matthews of the Cocoa Police Department,  officers found a blood trail and followed it north to the area of North Fiske Boulevard where they located an unresponsive man with obvious trauma.

Rescue personnel responded but the victim was pronounced dead on scene.

Investigators are working to positively identify the male and notify his next of kin.

Police are interviewing people in the area and are asking anyone who heard or saw anything to contact the Cocoa Police Department at 321-639-7620.
