BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s women’s and men’s soccer teams begin the 2015 season ranked in the top four in two national polls.

The women, who finished 13-1-2 last season and reached the NJCAA Division I national semifinal, are ranked third in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll and the NJCAA Division I poll.

The women have played in three consecutive national tournaments.

The men, who finished 13-3-1 and lost in the district final, one game short of qualifying for their second straight NJCAA Division I national tournament, are ranked fourth by both the NJCAA and the NSCAA.

Defending women’s national champion Monroe College of New York is ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA and NSCAA polls while 2014 national runner-up Iowa Western Community College is second.

“As I’ve always said pre-season rankings are just that,” said Eastern Florida women’s head coach Jeff Carr.

“We are very appreciative of the recognition from our peers but at the same time we realize we’ve got a lot of work to do to accomplish our season’s goals.”

Eastern Florida men’s coach Oliver Twelvetrees took a similar approach.

“Are we the fourth-best team in the country?” he said. “Time will tell. But, we welcome the recognition.”
