CORAL GABLES, FLORIDA (HurricaneSports.com) – The Miami Hurricanes had a special visitor at #CanesCamp on Wednesday as University of Miami President Dr. Julio Frenk spent part of the morning at the Greentree Practice Fields.

Dr. Frenk, who is the sixth President of the University of Miami, began his UM Presidency on August 16 and he took time to meet with the Hurricanes prior to Wednesday morning’s practice.

Frenk spoke to the Canes before being presented with a team-signed football and jersey and taking in some of the morning practice from the sideline.

President Frenk’s visit meant a lot to head coach Al Golden and his team.

“The guy has a million things going on,” Golden said.

“Students are coming in for orientation. I’m sure he’s meeting staff everyday. I know how difficult transitions can be. For him to take the time to come over here means a lot to athletics and certainly our squad.”

Beyond the excitement surrounding President Frenk’s visit to practice, Golden was pleased with the work the Hurricanes put in on Greentree on Wednesday.

“They came out with a purpose today,” Golden said.

“The defense was physical; I thought the secondary tackled really well. The offense had urgency, we were better with our coordinations, and our tempo was better.”

“I know guys know it’s getting close. I mean you’ve got to make a move right now if you want to make a move. So they’ve got to just take that intention into the scrimmage,” said Golden.
