BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Grand Villa hosted a ribbon-cutting and open house recently for their new state-of-the-art Memory Care Neighborhood.

Located on U.S. 1 at Nasa Boulevard in Melbourne, the new building is specially designed for residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

“We’re so exciting to be here today for our grand opening for our new Memory Care at Grand Villa,” said Brenda Jones, Executive Director of Grand Villa of Melbourne.

“We’re so pleased to have the mayor here today, to have Congressman Posey’s office represented, and over 100 guests coming to our community.  We’ve been waiting for three years for this day to come.”

Attendees included local geriatric physicians Dr. John Potomski, Jr. and Dr. Sri Visalakshi.

Camille Hunter is the Director of Memory Care for Grand Villa.

“We’re pleased to offer Dakim Brain Fitness, a renowned program used to protect brain health and improve cognitive function,” said Hunter, who is working towards a PhD in geriatrics.

Attendees also met Kathy Kearcher, lead nurse for the Memory Care neighborhood.

“Kathy comes alive when working with dementia patients, and comes to us with a great deal of experience.  Both Kathy and Camille are state certified as dementia trainers, and are very dedicated to geriatrics.” said Jones.
