A 2-year old child was airlifted to the hospital on Friday as a result of being bitten in the face by the family dog, according to a City of Palm Bay release.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – A 2-year old child was airlifted to the hospital on Friday as a result of being bitten in the face by the family dog, according to a City of Palm Bay release.

Palm Bay Fire Rescue responded to the incident in which victim had serious bleeding from a wound to her cheek and a “good chunk of the cheek was taken out,” according to the City of Palm Bay.

The victim was awake and breathing on transport.

The dog remains in the home as Animal Services awaits the family to return to the house.

The incident is under investigation and it is unknown at this time what will be done with the dog or if any charges will be filed.
