ABCNEWS.GO. COM – A young woman arrested by the FBI in connection with a string of jewelry store robberies was led out of court today in tears.

Abigail Lee Kemp, 24, appeared in court just after noon wearing a pink fleece sweatshirt.

She was arrested without incident Friday in Smyrna, Georgia, following tips from the public, the FBI said. She was charged by criminal complaint on Friday with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by threats or violence, the Department of Justice said today.

The purpose of today’s appearance, Judge Linda T. Walker said, was to alert Kemp of the charges pending against her. She has not yet entered a plea.

Kemp formally requested a court-appointed attorney and waived an identity hearing. Kemp will remain in custody pending a bond hearing scheduled for Thursday and could face a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted, the Department of Justice said.
