BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA  – Women’s basketball’s BreAnn Davis and men’s basketball’s Jordan Majors have earned Panther Student-Athlete of the Week honors for their performances during the week of Dec. 28 to Jan. 3.


Davis had a career day guiding the Panthers’ to a 66-60 road victory over Sunshine State Conference rival Lynn on Saturday. The redshirt senior paced the offense, scoring a career-high 16 points to go along with two rebounds and two blocks in 24 minutes of action.

She had an impressive performance at the charity stripe, making 8-of-10 from the line, helping FIT hold off a late Fighting Knights rally to improve to 4-1 in conference play and 9-3 on the season.

The transfer from Jacksonville University is currently third on the team with eight blocks in 12 games.

Ringing in the New Year against Lynn, Majors turned in his best performance in two seasons donning Crimson and Gray. The Kentucky native poured in 31 points and nine rebounds, both career-highs, to lift the Panthers to their 10th win in 12 tries versus the Fighting Knights.

He also added a season-high seven assists and converted a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line as Florida Tech improved to 3-1 in the SSC, earning all three wins away from home.

Majors has averaged 17.3 points and 5.8 rebounds in league play and ranks seventh overall in the SSC shooting 49.3 percent from the field.

The Florida Tech women’s squad will look to continue rolling in SSC play when it returns home on Wednesday for its first matchup this season against conference foe Saint Leo. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. The Panthers won their last meeting with the Lions, securing an 87-71 victory on Feb. 4, 2015 at the Clemente Center.
