BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Brevard County Teacher of the Year nominee Sandra Cook, 54, was discovered shot to death at a residence on 2720 Chapparal Drive on Monday morning about 10:43 a.m., according to the Melbourne police.

“Officers responded to the above residence regarding a suspicious death investigation,” said the Melbourne police.

Police also found the body of a 60-year old man, who had not been identified by authorities and will be released as soon as possible.

According to police, Cook and the other victim are believed to be the only people involved in this incident, and the victims knew each other, but no other details were given at this time.

No other person is believed to have been involved in their deaths, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing and witnesses are being interviewed.
