Patrol officers and traffic homicide investigators are currently on the scene of a traffic accident involving a vehicle which struck a pedestrian attempting to cross south on Dixon Boulevard, according to Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Patrol officers and traffic homicide investigators are currently on the scene of a traffic accident involving a vehicle which struck a pedestrian attempting to cross south on Dixon Boulevard, according to Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

The incident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. in the area of the 1300 block of Dixon Boulevard.

Investigators have determined the driver of a small SUV was travelling westbound on Dixon Blvd. when the vehicle struck the pedestrian only identified as an older black male around 50-60 years old.

The unidentified male was ground transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne in critical condition, according to Martinez.

Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses and attempting to confirm the sequence of events that led up to the accident.
