ABOVE VIDEO: Tornado Trackers followed Hurricane Matthew up the east coast of Florida and recorded some great  footage in Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA (TORNADO TRACKERS) – Tornado Trackers was started in 2013 when three weather geeks created a joint Twitter account during a chase in Oklahoma to keep family and friends updated on their trip.

Since then, they have worked together to create a community of fellow weather enthusiasts, sharing video and images of amazing weather phenomenon from both their personal encounters and those captured by others.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Matthew registered a 100 m.p.h. wind gust at Cape Canaveral between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning.

Between the hours of 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. wind speed gauges in Melbourne registered winds between 70 and 80 m.p.h.

Matthew made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane in the Cape Romaine National Wildlife Refuge near McClellanville, South Carolina, around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday
