ABOVE VIDEO: Amid the retail hype this holiday season, you may have also noticed that charities are stepping up their fundraising efforts.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As the holiday shopping season kicks off this week, Attorney General Pam Bondi is releasing the 2016 Holiday Shopping Guide.

This guide provides Floridians with tips for avoiding charity scams, shopping tips and product recall information, particularly on children’s toys and other products that specifically pose risks for children.

“This wonderful time of year is the season for giving, and whether we are shopping for gifts or donating to a charity, there are simple steps Floridians can take to safeguard against scams during the holidays,” said Attorney General Bondi.

“I encourage consumers to read my 2016 Holiday Shopping Guide to ensure that the products you buy are safe. This year, we are especially focused on the safety of children.”
