BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – I am very proud to announce that the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was recognized this past week by Military Times Magazine as “Best for Vets 2016,” which recognized 20 Law Enforcement agencies from across the country for their commitment to providing opportunities to America’s veterans.

Military Times is comprised of Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times. The focus is on culture and policies that cater to military veterans.

When conducting and scoring the fourth annual “Best for Vets,” law enforcement agencies across the country were evaluated for their efforts to connect with veterans while providing an environment for success.

Those agencies identified and demonstrated the most accommodating practices and environments for veterans in the Criminal Justice arena.

“Best for Vets” is an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that make a law enforcement agency a good fit for military veterans and reservists.

I could not be more proud of our agency and team as this is the third year in a row we have received such distinction.

Many of our members have previously and currently serve their country in the Armed Forces.

Veterans are incredible employees, who are loyal, resilient, diverse, disciplined and heroic in their protection of our nation and community.

They possess teamwork skills and real life experiences that are unique and highly valued.

I can’t thank them enough for their devotion, service and sacrifice. We are honored to do everything possible to make them a part of our B.C.S.O. family, as they continue daily to do what they do best, protect our community.
