BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating a carjacking case where an 80-year-old woman was exiting her driveway near the 2300 block of Lipscomb St. in Melbourne early Thursday morning when she was approached by a black male suspect and a black female suspect asking for a ride, according to Sgt. John Grinwis of the Melbourne Police Department.

Before the elderly woman could respond, the suspects got into the victim’s 2004 Lincoln Town Car and told the woman to drive to a house off of Grant St. near the Grant Street Community Center.

When the woman pulled up to the house, the woman suspect exited the front passenger seat and the man suspect jumped over the seat from the backseat and tried to grab the keys to the vehicle.

The victim refused to give up the keys to the man so the suspect then exited the vehicle, went to the driver’s side and threw the victim out of her vehicle, according to police.

The 80-year-old woman sustained minor injuries as a result.

The woman suspect returned to the vehicle and both suspects sped off in the victim’s car where it was last seen driving south.
