Internal Medicine Physician, Dr. Tamid Turbay, Joins Wuesthoff Team In Rockledge

Wuesthoff Health System has welcomed Tamid Turbay, MD, to its family of physicians at Wuesthoff Medical Center—Rockledge.

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Wuesthoff Health System has welcomed Tamid Turbay, MD, to its family of physicians at Wuesthoff Medical Center—Rockledge.

To correspond with his joining Wuesthoff, Dr. Turbay will hold a grand opening celebration on Friday, Jan. 20, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at his office at 111 Longwood Avenue in Rockledge, FL 32955.

The actual ribbon cutting for the office is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Dr. Turbay offers preventive care and general wellness visits. One particular area of focus is the management and treatment of chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Prior to joining Wuesthoff Health System, Dr. Turbay served as an internal medicine resident at the Ponce School of Medicine/Mayaguez Medical Center, the San Jose Hospital of Bogota FUCS, and the Social Health Care Institute of Barranquilla/Colombia.

His administrative work included tenures with medical groups and healthcare insurance companies.

Fluent in Spanish and English, Dr. Turbay completed his internal medicine residency program at the Ponce School of Medicine, Mayaguez Medical Center, where he was also named “Resident of the Year” in 2013.

Prior to joining Wuesthoff Health System, Dr. Turbay served as an internal medicine resident at the Ponce School of Medicine/Mayaguez Medical Center, the San Jose Hospital of Bogota FUCS, and the Social Health Care Institute of Barranquilla/Colombia.

He also holds a healthcare administration degree from the Universidad del Norte, School of Medicine.

His publications and research include work on kidney injury, BNP as a strong predictor for acute decompensated heart failure admissions, drug safety monitoring, SEPSIS management and much more.

“My administrative experience has been a very beneficial supplement to my practice,” said Dr. Turbay, who provides both inpatient and outpatient care. “Understanding the business end of medicine has helped me become a better patient advocate, so I’m always seeking ways to improve care while reducing costs.”

From an office fully equipped with on-site EKGs, blood testing and other diagnostic services equipment, Dr. Turbay performs an array of medical procedures.

These include on-site diagnostic services, preventive health services, immunizations, and vision and hearing screenings.

He also removes lesions, and performs skin biopsies and tissue injections.

Andy Romine, interim chief executive officer at Wuesthoff Medical Center—Rockledge, said that Dr. Turbay brings an important breadth of experience to Wuesthoff.
