2017 Water Safety Instructor Course Offered By Brevard County At McLarty Aquatic Center

Cost is $250, must be 16 years of age

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Brevard County Central Area Parks and Recreation will offer a Water Safety Instructor course March 28-April 7 at McLarty Aquatic Center, located at 790 Barton Boulevard in Rockledge.

Course dates and times are as follows:

Tuesday, March 28, 5 – 9 p.m.
Wednesday, March 29, 5 – 9 p.m.
Thursday, March 30, 5 – 9 p.m.
Friday, March 31, 5 – 9 p.m.
Tuesday, April 4, 5 – 9 p.m.
Wednesday, April 5, 5 – 9 p.m.

Participants will need access to the Internet as this course has online components. All classes must be attended. Cost is $250 and must be paid upon successful completion of the skills test on March 28. Class size is limited. Pre-registration is recommended. A minimum of five participants is needed to hold the class.

Interested candidates must be 16 years of age, maintain position on back for one minute, tread water for one minute and be able to swim 25 yards of front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke and 15 yards of butterfly.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive American Red Cross certification as a Water Safety Instructor, and be able to teach swim lessons and water safety presentations.
