BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Summer is still a few months away, but parents can already begin to fill children’s summer schedules by registering them for camps at Brevard Zoo.

“It’s always a fun atmosphere,” said education curator, Janelle Cummins.

“Everyone gets excited about summer camps. The kids get to be outdoors, meet lots of animals, go behind the scenes and make friends. It’s a great hands-on educational experience while school is out.”

From May 30 to August 4, the Zoo is offering a variety of half-day and full-day camps for children entering kindergarten through ninth grade.

Topics encompass animal adaptations, zookeeping and the many roles zoos play in their communities. Art camps in June and July are sponsored in part by the Brevard County Community Cultural Grant program through Brevard Cultural Alliance.

An early bird discount will be applied for campers who register before Saturday, April 15. Additional discounts for some camps are available to Zoo members. Registration and more information is available at www.brevardzoo.org/zoocamps
