Retired Satellite Beach Police Chief Lee Cote Instilled Lifetime of Respect, Admiration Among Colleagues and Citizens

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – With more than 50 years of dedicated service and sacrifice to our community, retired Satellite Beach Police Chief Lionel “Lee” Cote has many notable accomplishments throughout his life that had a positive impact on all citizens of Brevard County.

His humble and generous leadership style over the years has instilled a lifetime of respect and admiration among his peers, followers and colleagues who he interacted with throughout his career.

Chief Cote began his public service in 1961 in the U.S. Army as a military police officer.

After finishing his military service, he was a Maine state police officer for almost 10 years, when he was then appointed police chief for the Town of Sabattus, Maine.

After nearly three years as chief, he was appointed in 1979 by Governor Joseph Brennan as the Maine State Director of the Bureau of Civil Emergency Preparedness.

Chief Cote wast hen appointed police chief for Lehighton, Pennsylvania where he served for four years before accepting the appointment of police chief of Satellite Beach in 1985, where he proudly served until his retirement in 2012.

In 2013, Chief Cote joined the Reserve Unit for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, where he served until his retirement in 2015.

During his service over the past 50-plus years, Chief Cote has endeared himself to his citizens as he proudly protected them.

His list of accomplishments include creating long lasting programs such as Citizens Patrol, County Drug Task Force and the Juvenile Assessment Center.

His leadership qualities personally mentored a host of future Brevard County law enforcement leaders who carry on his legacy every day in the protection of Brevard County citizens.
