Florida Tech Men’s Golf Awarded Highest Preseason Ranking in Program History

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Exactly three months after completing the best season in program history, the Florida Tech men’s golf team finds itself in uncharted territory with the start of the 2017-18 campaign only weeks away.
The Panthers are listed at No. 5 in the Bushnell Golfweek Preseason Division II Coaches Poll. This is the highest preseason ranking for the FIT men’s golf team in program history.
Four Sunshine State Conference members make up the Top-5 teams in the poll. Defending national champion Florida Southern sits atop the rankings with nine first-place votes entering the season, while West Florida is second with seven first-place votes. Barry, Lynn and FIT round out the Top-5.
Other SSC squads ranked in the preseason Top-25 are Nova Southeastern (11), Saint Leo (16) and Rollins (22).

Florida Tech finished in fifth place at the 2017 DII Men’s Golf National Championship, advancing to the quarterfinals at Reunion Resort’s Watson Course in Kissimmee, Florida. The Panthers eventually fell to Lynn 3-1-1 in match play.
The Crimson and Gray open the 2017-18 campaign at the Griffin Invitational on Sept. 18-19 at Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, Florida.
