Florida Tech’s Mark Cato, Adonis Davis Named Gulf South Conference Players of the Week

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Following stellar performances in Florida Tech’s road victory over North Greenville on Saturday, Mark Cato and Adonis Davis have collected Gulf South Conference Players of the Week, announced by the GSC office.
Cato was named GSC Offensive Player of the Week after accounting for 336 yards of offense and five touchdowns in the Panthers’ 42-31 win over NGU.
The redshirt-senior quarterback completed 22-of-33 passes for 325 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for 11 yards and a rushing touchdown. This is the second time in Cato’s career he has earned this award (Sept. 8, 2014).
Davis’ reeled in league Defensive Player of the Week honors after another strong game on the Florida Tech defensive line.
The redshirt-junior defensive end recorded a team-high eight tackles, including two tackles for loss and one sack, two quarterback hurries and a pass breakup in the victory. This is the second time in his career that Davis has received the laurel (Sept. 12, 2016).
Cato, Davis and the rest of the Florida Tech football team are back in action this Saturday, Oct. 21, hosting GSC-leader West Alabama at 2 p.m. ET at Florida Tech Panther Stadium.
