Merritt Island Performing Arts Center Host Educational Program ‘Astronomy For Everyone: Size & Scale of the Universe’

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA — Look Up to the Stars invites everyone to come explore the final frontier, viewing celestial wonders like the rings of Saturn, the craters on the moon and other jewels of the night sky.

On Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 7:00 pm, the Merritt Island Performing Arts Center will present “Astronomy for Everyone: Size and Scale of the Universe,” an exciting program that describes the universe from the very small to the very large that begins inside, enjoying incomparable photos and videos of our universe, and ends outside, peering through a powerful telescope into the wonders of the cosmos.

The program is hosted by astronomer and former NASA consultant Kevin James Manning.

Manning not only travels the country bringing the stars to libraries and schools, but he also worked with the Chandra X-Ray Observatory (launched on the space shuttle) with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and other places like Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Manning launched his “Star Tour” series to help make science accessible and exciting for all ages. “Our aim is to open new galaxies of inquiry and possibilities for the people we visit,” he said.

“We want everyone to be able to enjoy an educational and entertaining exploration of the universe, the stars and other celestial wonders, as well as a refreshingly large perspective gained by looking up to the stars.”

The program will be held at the Merritt Island Performing Arts Center located on 100 Mustang Way in Merritt Island.
