Workshop to focus on self employment
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – weVENTURE is hosting a free Work for Yourself@50+ workshop in coordination with AARP Foundation on Tuesday, January 30 from 3-5 p.m. at Florida Institute of Technology.
The workshop facilitator will be Program Director of Business Services Wanda Lipscomb-Vasquez and will be held at 3011 S. Babcock Street in Melbourne.
weVENTURE IS a Central Florida-based organization launched at Florida Institute of Technology and focused on accelerating sustainable business growth for entrepreneurs.
During this workshop, Work for Yourself@50+ breaks the choices down for adults in an approachable way through five steps:
1. A careful consideration of the potential benefits and risks of working for yourself
2. Exercises to help develop the self-employment idea
3. A realistic overview of what it takes to pursue a self-employment opportunity
4. Guidance to help avoid pitfalls and scams
5. Ways to find trustworthy support and services in the community
weVENTURE was awarded a grant from the AARP Foundation, allowing the organization to conduct free workshops to Brevard County residents. This program provides the knowledge, support, and resources needed to make informed decisions about successful self-employment.
“To date, we’ve had dozens of local entrepreneurs participate in these free Work for Yourself@50+ workshops, and we are thrilled to see that number growing,” said weVENTURE Executive Director Erica Lemp.
