Port Canaveral Executive Appointed to Brevard County Historical Commission Advisory Board

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Port Canaveral Historian George P. Kistner III has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Brevard County Historical Commission.
The prestigious appointment was issued by Brevard County Commissioner John Tobia during yesterday’s meeting of the Brevard County Commissioners in Viera. Kistner’s term is effective immediately, and he will serve through December 31, 2018.
“We are proud of George’s accomplishments and congratulate him on this appointment to the Brevard County Historical Commission,” stated Captain John Murray, Port CEO.
“He will bring valuable experience and knowledge to the Commission and a dedicated passion for historic preservation. As our Port Historian, George knows how important it is to document our heritage and commemorate milestones from generation to generation.”
George P. Kistner III is a third generation Floridian with more than thirty years in records and information management and fourteen years in historic preservation. He is currently a member of the Florida Records Management Association (FRMA) as well as the Association of Records Management Administrators International (ARMA).
The Brevard Historical Commission is dedicated to preserving the history and archeology, marking historical locations and recording historical information of Brevard County. The Historical Commission is made up of fifteen members appointed by the County Commissioners. Each of the five County Commissioners appoints three members to sit on the Historical Commission.
