Brevard Ocean Rescue has announced that Brevard County beaches are flying double red flags and been closed due to the storms and lightning in the area. A severe thunderstorm warning has also been issued for the Space Coast area until 4:30 p.m.

A TORNADO WATCH 17 IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 700 PM EDT FOR THE FOLLOWING FLORIDA COUNTIES: INCLUDED ARE ALACHUA BAKER BRADFORD BREVARD CITRUS CLAY COLUMBIA DIXIE DUVAL FLAGLER GILCHRIST HAMILTON HARDEE HERNANDO HILLSBOROUGH LAFAYETTE LAKE LEVY MANATEE MARION NASSAU ORANGE OSCEOLA PASCO PINELLAS POLK PUTNAM SARASOTA SEMINOLE ST. JOHNS SUMTER SUWANNEE TAYLOR UNION VOLUSIA.
