Florida Tech Swimmers Neta Saar, Thomas Steenberg Named Google Cloud Academic All-Americans

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA– Florida Tech Swimming’s Neta Saar and Thomas Steenberg have been selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-America At-Large Teams.
Steenberg was named to the Academic All-America First Team and Saar collected second-team honors. This is the first Academic All-America nod for the both Panthers, while Steenberg is the third male student-athlete in school history to receive first-team accolades.
Saar wrapped up her career as a Panther in Spring 2018, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a perfect 4.00-grade point average in accounting. She was recognized as a Distinguished Student Scholar at Florida Tech and received the Outstanding Junior and Outstanding Senior Awards from the College of Business over the past two years.
A native of Haifa, Israel, Saar ended her swimming career as a member of Florida Tech’s school-record 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.

The academic accolades continue to roll in for Steenberg who graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida Tech in Spring 2018 with a 3.97 GPA in global management & finance. He was named the Florida Tech Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2017-18.
On Wednesday, Steenberg was announced as the SSC’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, becoming the first Panther to receive the award since it was established in 1995-96.
The Skodsborg, Denmark product was a key cog in the Panthers’ 400 freestyle relay that won the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Championship and placed fourth, earning First Team All-American honors, at this year’s NCAA Championships.
He was also a member of the 200 freestyle relay that garnered First Team All-American honors and took fifth at the NCAA Championships.
