LITTLE LEAGUE REPORT: District 22 All-Stars Continued Tuesday With 4 Games in 3 Divisions

Port St. John to take on Rockledge Thursday for Major Baseball finals

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida District 22 All-Stars continued Tuesday night with 4 games in 3 divisions.

At McLarty Park in Rockledge, the visitors from Mims LL met Space Coast LL to wrap up action in the 10-12 Baseball pool at that site.

Space Coast’s Roy Miller and Tyler Martin each hit singles while Xavier Rosado hit a double and scored. Mims’ Brock O’Brien went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and scored 3 runs in Mims’ 18-1 victory.

Meanwhile, the 3-team 10-12 Baseball pool concluded at Space Coast Communities Sports Complex in Canaveral Groves on Tuesday night with the visitors from Port St. John LL taking on the home team from Merritt Island LL.

Port St. John got on the board early on an RBI-single by Ronnie Adams to take a 1-0 lead. They would extend the lead in the third to 5-0 on a 2-run homer by Clint Sturgill. Merritt Island would cut into the lead in the 4th inning when Riley Thompson scored on a wild pitch, making the score 5-1.

The score would hold until the bottom of the 6th when Jayce Brandes connected for an RBI-double to make it 5-2. The Port St. John pitchers would then shut the door to preserve the 5-2 win.

Nick Wimberly worked four strong innings with 9 strikeouts and Sturgill finished the game to get the save. Port St. John LL will take on Rockledge LL at Space Coast Communities Sports Complex on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Major Baseball finals.

SPACE COAST DAILY TV: The Friday Night Locker Room’s Orville Susong talks with the Merritt Island 8-9-10 All-Star baseball team after their 11-1 win over IRC. Merritt Island will represent District 22 in Section play.

At Holder Park, the 8-10 Baseball tournament concluded with the home team from Merritt Island LL taking the 11-1 win over Indian River City LL.

Merritt Island advances and will represent District 22 at the Section 3 Tournament in Palm Coast.

Also at Holder, the Junior Baseball division got underway with the visiting team from Merritt Island LL meeting the All-Stars from Indian River City LL.

Indian River City’s Nino Sconiers had a double and scored 2 runs. But, the Merritt Island bats lit up for 11 hits, including a double by Maddox Moss, as Merritt Island won 10-2.
