Melbourne Tidal Town Hall Will Provide Forum For Voters, Candidates to Discuss Climate Change, Sea Level Rise

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – ReThink Energy Florida and First Street Foundation will co-sponsor the Melbourne Tidal Town Hall on Tuesday, July 31, at the Unity of Melbourne, located at 2401 N. Harbor City Boulevard in Melbourne.

This unique free event will be held 6-8:30 p.m. and will bring voters and candidates together for a discussion on climate change, flooding and sea level rise.  

The moderator will be Zach Eichholz, a Master’s Student at Florida Institute of Technology.

Through a moderated conversation between forum participants, Space Coast area voters will have the opportunity to learn more about how local political candidates plan to protect the Sunshine State from the impending threat of rising seas.

Towards the end of the event, voters will have the chance to ask questions on the subject.

“Florida is ground zero for sea level rise, with South Florida already experiencing sunny-day flooding,” said Kim Ross, Executive Director for ReThink Energy Florida.

ReThink Energy Florida focuses on empowering citizens of Florida to achieve energy independence in a healthier more sustainable environment. First Street Foundation educates citizens and elected officials of the risks, causes, and solutions to sea level rise and flooding.
