'Mac's experience and knowledge is highly valuable to the port's future'
BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Port Commission District 5 Candidate Malcolm “Mac” Mclouth has received the endorsement of current District 1 Port Commissioner Jerry Allender for the upcoming 2018 election.
“I’m endorsing Mac McLouth to be the next Port Commissioner for District 5 as he has the experience and knowledge we desperately need on the Port Commission,” said Allender.
Allender, who has served as a port commissioner since January 2011, is a former judge who has practiced law in Brevard County since 1968.
He is a partner with the law firm of Allender & Allender where he practices in the area of Elder Law.
McLouth previously served for more than 30 years as a port commissioner from 1967 until 1996 and also from 2008 until 2010. He was also the port’s director of business development from 1996 to 2000 and the port’s CEO from 2000 until 2004.
“Mac’s experience and knowledge are highly valuable to the port’s future and that’s why I am endorsing him,” said Allender.
McLouth has also received the endorsements of Brevard County Commissioner Jim Barfield and Brevard County Clerk of the Court Scott Ellis.
ALLENDER, JUSTICE REELECTED
Incumbent Port Canaveral Commissioners Allender and Wayne Justice were reelected in June without opposition to their respective District seats.
In addition to McLouth, candidates that have qualified for the Port Canaveral District 5 seat include Republican Robyn Hattaway and Democrat Maurice Boudreau.
Tom Weinberg, a two-term District 5 Port Canaveral commissioner, did not seek reelection in District 5. Other port commissioners, who are not up for reelection until 2020, include Bob Harvey of District 4 and Micah Loyd of District 2.
Canaveral Port Authority District 5 includes Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral and parts of Merritt Island, but all partisan registered voters within the port voting area are eligible to vote in the August 28 primary election. The 2018 General Election will be held on November 6.
