Honda Civic Sinks in River After Crashing Through Mathers Bridge Guardrail, FHP Seeks Driver

Brevard Sheriff's Dive Unit was on the scene, did not locate anyone in or around the vehicle

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 2013 Honda Civic that was traveling westbound on Banana River Drive and Dragon Point Drive about 3 a.m. Thursday left the roadway and crashed through a guardrail near the Mathers Bridge and sank in the river.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A 2013 Honda Civic that was traveling westbound on Banana River Drive and Dragon Point Drive about 3 a.m. Thursday morning left the roadway and crashed through a guardrail at Mathers Bridge and sank in the river.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes, the vehicle was not located until 8:30 am. on Thursday morning.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Dive Unit was on the scene and did not locate anyone in or around the vehicle.

“Troopers have attempted to locate the registered owner and family members to see who was driving the vehicle, with no success,” said Lt. Montes.

This crash remains under investigation.
