BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Studio at BAC, the arts program of Brevard Achievement Center, will present its sixth annual Performing Arts Showcase on the main stage of the Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, October 30 at 10:30 a.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Showcase will feature seven middle and high school Exceptional Student Education classrooms from Brevard Public Schools and one class of adults with disabilities from BAC’s Adult Day Training program.

Each class works with a visiting artist for eight weeks leading up to the Showcase to create and practice their performance.

This year’s teaching artists includes Blast Off Performing Arts improv troupe, musicians Charles Baumgartner and Chris Kahl, as well as dancers Destinee Rhodes and Alicia Robin.

“The Showcase isn’t just about performing,” said Arts Program Manager, Lee Sorensen.

“Learning the routines helps our artists with disabilities stay focused, increases their cognitive skills and improves self- esteem. Plus, for many, the Showcase is the only opportunity they will ever get to perform on stage.”
